TweetFacebookLeader they sawseveral pods of dolphins heading down river toward Como Marina on Sunday.

“What a marvellous occasion, wow!” Mr Sparks said.

Tony and Isabelle Moss of Oyster Bay couldn’t believe their eyes when they were on their boat at Caravan Head near Oyster Bay andpods of dolphins frolicked in front of them on Sunday and from their balcony at home about7am Monday.

“It was wonderful, just like a dream and it proves the river is healthy,” Mr Moss said.

“There were about four on Sunday and this morning there were two pods and up to about 12 dolphins.”

A spokesman for the National Parks and Wildlife Service said the dolphin numbers in the Georges River were consistent with previous years.

‘‘What is a bit different this year is that there are a lot of adult dolphins with calves and that indicates there’s a lot of fish around,’’ Geoff Ross said.

The dolphin mothers were probably showing their young around the area so they would later be able to find their own way around, he said.

People in boats needed to be 50 metres from adult dolphins and 150 metres from calves.

Mr Ross is the co-ordinator of marine fauna programs (see a video below relating to a “A very, very good year” for whales.

Have you spotted any dolphins or other sea life arriving with the warmer weather?
