File picA convoy speeding at more than 45 kilometres per hour above the limit was caught north of Taree on Saturday night.

Highway Patrol were measuring speedin a 110km/h zone of the Pacific Highwayat Moorland about 9.15pm when the trio of cars blitzed by them.

Police allege a 19-year-old Yarramundi man on hisprovisional licence was doing 165km/h, and was not displaying his P plates, when they caught up to his Ford Focus.

They also caught a Toyota Hilux driven by a 26-year-old man from Queensland’s Mermaid Waters, who was allegedly doing 162km/h.

Another 26-year-old man, this time from Sydney’s Grose Vale,in the group was allegedly detected doing 158km/h in a Holden Barina.

The trio were issued infringement noticesfor exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, with eachincurring a$2252 penalty and six demerit points.

The teenager also copped a second infringement noticefor not displaying P plates.
